Trick or Treat.....

Booo Hooooo.....! It's time to show some Halloween candies I made with the Club Anya Spooktacular Stamp Set from the July release. All sentiments and images are from this stamp set.
Here you see the three lollies before I decorated them.
All images are coloured with Distress Ink. This image is cut out with a vintage tag die from BossKut. The swirl stamps are from Prima.
On this lolly I used a cool black paper that was dry embossed and it looks like raindrops.I used a Spellbinder die to cut the image and a Martha Stewart punch for the bat.
This image is also cut by using a Spellbinder die(Label 1). To cover this lolly I first wrapped am old book page around it. I then inked the edges with Distress Ink Vintage Photo. To finish it, I wrapped some cellofane around it and used some red scrappers floss and linen thread.
The frame around the images is a clipping mask frame I made in Photoshop. I added a black layer behind it so it looked a litte bit more spooktacular;) You can download the frame HERE and use it on your own images. My free clipping mask frames can be viewed in this album. If you want to learn how to add a frame like this to your photos, please see my TUTORIAL. And please link back to my blog if you use my frames;)
Thanks!

Photosho Tutorial 6 - B/W photo with a hint of colour

Today I want to show you how I make my BW photos with a hint of colour. There are several ways to do this, so my way is only one of many. This is how you can do it in Photoshop 6.0 and newer versions. For Elements I don't know if it works like this.
All photos in this tutorial can be double clicked to be viewed in larger versions.
Shortcuts and menues I talk about in this tutorial will be for Photoshop 6.0 and newer versions of that.
You open your photo in Photoshop(Ctrl+O). Duplicate your layer(Ctrl+J) to make an identical layer of the photo. This is now called Layer 1.

First I want to make Layer 1 black&white. Make sure Layer 1 is highlighted on the Layers Palette and then you desaturate the photo (shortcut Ctrl+Shift+U). Layer 1 is now in BW.

I think the contrast in this BW photo don't look good so I want to adjust it. I add an Adjustment Layer to Layer 1 by clicking the black&white circle at the bottom of the Layers Palette and choose Brightness/Contrast. I adjust the contrast until I think the BW layer looks nice.
I then want the butterfly to have some brighter colours. I click off the BW Layer for a while and I make sure the Background Layer is highlighted. Then I add an Adjustment Layer to the Background Layer by clicking the black&white circle at the bottom of the Layers Palette and choose Hue/Saturation. I move the arrow at the Saturation bar to +36(depends on how bright you want it to be) and get some nice bright colours to the butterfly.

Now I've adjusted the BW and the colour layer the way I want them and it's time to make some magic happen! First make sure you've clicked on the BW layer again. The Layers Palette should now look like on the print screen above. You should now have two Layers(Background and Layer 1) and two adjustment layers(Brightness/Contrast and Hue/Saturation).

Now you make sure Layer 1 is highlighted on the Layers Palette. Then you go down to the bottom of the Layers Palette and add a Layer Mask(a square with a circle in it) to Layer 1.

Now you go to the Tools Palette on the left side and the Colour Palette. Make sure you have white selected as the foreground colour and black selected as the background colour.

You can now choose the Eraser Tool on the Tools palette.

You decide the size and softness of the brush up on the Menu line. I use a quite large brush to start with and later I will go over with a smaller brush on the small details and edges.

Press down the left mouse button and start erasing over the object you want to be in colour. You will now see the colour start to appear in your BW photo.

Don't worry if you erase outside the lines of your object. As you see on my image I have some orangecolour from the flower which is visible. I don't want it to be like that and want to add back black/white to the things outside my object(butterfly).

The cool thing I can do now is to go to the Colour Palette, use the arrow in the corner and switch to Black as Foreground colour. If you now try to erase over the object, you'll see that you reverse the erasing from earlier and add back the B/W.

I also zoom in on the image, and use a smaller brush on the Erase Tool to go over the edges of the object. This can take some time, depending on the details of the object. So by working like this, changing between black and white as foreground colour, and chaning the size of the brush, you 'll get a nice result in the end.

Here you see the finished result again. Remember to save it as a copy so you don't overwrite your original photo. If you save it as a photoshop file(.psd) you can also open it again later and continue your work.
Good luck!

Signs of spring....

Today was such a beautiful spring day and lucky me had the day off at work. So I got to spend some time in my garden to take some photos of the signs of spring. In the afternoon I hiked in our forest together with my mum and mother in law. And there we also saw some colourful signs of the new season which is arriving!

The frame I used on these photos, I've made myself. You can download it for free and use it for your own photos. You download it HERE.
If you want to learn how to put a frame like this on your photo, see my tutorial about this HERE.

Adobe Photoshop Tutorial 5 - How to make sepia photos

It's time for my Photoshop Tutorial #5. I will now show you how to make great sepia photos. Most photo editing softwares has a quick button to turn your photos to sepia. But have you ever wanted to change the color tone of the photo. Today I'll show you how to make exactly the brown colour you want on your photo.
All photos in this tutorial can be double clicked to be viewed in larger versions. Shortcuts and menues Italk about in this tutorial willbe for Photoshop 6.0 and newer versions of that. This tutorial wil also work in Photoshop Elements.
Åpne bildet ditt i Photoshop. Open your image in Photoshop.
You need to put a new Layer on top of your image. Go to the Layer Menu on top, choose New and Layer. Then a window will open. Press OK. You will now see in the Layers window to the right that the new Layer(Layer 1) will be on top of your image.
Then you need to choose the brown colour for your image. You do that by choosing the Colour Palette(black and white square) on the Tools Palette. The colour option window will open. Move the arrow until you find the colour of your choice. Press OK when you got the one you want.
Then you paint Layer 1 with your brown colour. Go to the Tools Palette and choose the Paint Bucket Tool, or use shortcut G.
Da får du et brunt lag over bildet ditt. I Layers-menyen vil du se at det brune laget nå logger over originalbildet ditt.
Hold the arrow over the image and press the left mouse button once. In the Layer Menu you will now see the brown layer on top of your image.
In the Layers Menu you know need to change the Blend Mode of Layer 1. Go to the Blend Mode Menu and change Blend Mode from Normal to Color.
Now your image has the brown colour you chose. If you want to change it, just go back to the colour palette and choose a new colour, and use Paint Bucket Tool on Layer 1 to change to the new colour. You can change it into any colour you like, so this tutorial is not only for sepia coloured photos. Make it red, blue or any colour you like.

To change the contrast of the image, make sure you highlight the Background photo on the Layers Menu. Go to the top menu and choose Image, Adjustments, Brightness/Contrast and change it like you want it.
LYKKE TIL!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

Adobe Photoshop Tutorial 4 - How to create a blurry border around your image

Welcome to my 4th Photoshop tutorial. Now it is time for me to show you how to make a blurry border around your image.
Det første du skal gjøre er å åpne bildet ditt i Photoshop / First you open your image in Photoshop:
Go to Tools and choose the Rectangular Marquee Tool. Use it to draw a rectangle where you want your border to be.
Go to the Menu on top, choose Select and Feather. The shortcut is Ctrl+Alt +D. I choose 75 to get a soft effect on the frame. Press OK. If you choose a number higher than 75, the frame will get more blurry on the edges. A number lower than 75 gives a sharper edge on the frame.
Go to top menu and choose Select and Inverse(shortcut Ctrl+Shift+I):
Then you should go to the Filter menu. Choose Blur and Gaussian Blur. Drag the arrow until you think the frame is as blurry as you want it. Press OK. Use Ctrl+D to remove your markings and your image is ready. Save the image as a copy so you still have the original picture!

Det ferdige resultatet / The image with the frame!

Adobe Photoshop Tutorial 3 - How to create a soft white border around your image

Welcome to my 3rd Photoshop tutorial. Now it is time for me to show you how to make a soft white border around your image.
Det første du skal gjøre er å åpne bildet ditt i Photoshop / First you open your image in Photoshop:
Go to Tools and choose the Rectangular Marquee Tool. Use it to draw a rectangle as near the image's border as you want.

Go to the Menu on top, choose Select and Feather. The shortcut is Ctrl+Alt +D. I choose 40 to get a soft effect on the frame. Press OK. If you choose a number higher than 40, the frame will get more blurry on the edges. A number lower than 40 gives a sharper edge on the frame.

Go to the Tools palette to check that your Foreground colour is set to black and Background colour to white. This to make a white border.
Det skal se slik ut / It should look like this:

Go to top menu and choose Select and Inverse(shortcut Ctrl+Shift+I):
Trykk Ctrl+D for å fjerne markeringen.
Then you press the Delete button on your keyboard and the white frame is made. Use Ctrl+D to remove your markings. Save the image as a copy so you still have the original picture!
